Before you begin, test and publish your agent and save a telephony configuration.

Assign the agent

  1. Open Phone numbers and select the provider configuration.
  2. Add or edit the number people will call.
  3. Set Inbound workflow to the agent that should answer.
  4. Save the number.

Configure your provider

Twilio and Telnyx use the inbound URL below. Bandwidth and jambonz have provider-specific callback routes; use the callback configuration supplied for your connection.
Use the URL for your workspace if it has a different host. Follow the provider-specific steps for the HTTP method, application, and phone-number assignment: The called number’s assignment selects the agent. Use the provider’s callback authentication; a workspace API key is not a replacement for provider credentials.

Verify an incoming call

Call the number from another phone. Confirm the correct greeting, two-way audio, tool behavior, and a conversation record. Repeat after changing the number assignment or provider configuration. If the agent does not answer, check the provider’s call record, the called number, its application assignment, and the saved Inbound workflow. If authentication fails, compare the provider account and credentials in both consoles. Share the run ID and provider call ID with your administrator when requesting help.
