You need an MCP server reachable over a supported HTTP transport and any authentication required by that server.

Create the connection

  1. Open Tools and create an MCP Server tool.
  2. Enter a name, purpose, and server URL.
  3. Select the credential required by the server.
  4. Save and check the discovered tools.
  5. Select the functions your agent needs.

Attach tools to the conversation

Add the MCP tool to the agent or workflow node and select the remote functions available there. In the prompt, explain when each action is appropriate and what information must be collected first.

Test failures as well as success

Test discovery and authentication, then run a conversation that calls a remote function. Confirm the parameters, returned data, and the agent’s response. Include an unavailable server and a rejected request so the agent has a useful fallback. This connects your voice agent to an external MCP server.
