You need a reachable HTTPS endpoint, its request contract, and a credential if the service requires authentication.

Create the tool

Open Tools and create an HTTP API tool. Give it a name describing the action, such as check_availability, and a description explaining when the agent should use it. Set the endpoint URL and HTTP method. Select a stored credential and add any required headers. Define the parameters your service expects, including their names, types, descriptions, and whether they are required. For example, an availability tool might require a date and appointment type. Tell the agent to ask for missing details before calling the tool.

Attach it to an agent

Select the tool in the agent’s action settings or on the workflow node where it should be available. Explain when to call it and how to handle an empty result or error. If the action changes a record, places an order, or makes a booking, have the agent confirm the relevant details first. Its response should reflect the tool result rather than assume the action succeeded.

Test the contract

Use the tool test controls with representative parameters, then run a complete conversation. Check your service’s received request, its response, and what the agent says afterward. Test missing parameters, rejected credentials, and an unavailable endpoint. For results sent after the call, use a Webhook node.
